In Loving Memory of
Dionis Betances
January 27, 1993 – January 25, 2025
Dionis Betances, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, CT, passed away on January 25, 2025, just shy of his 32nd birthday. Known for his sharp intellect, level-headed nature, and ability to navigate even the most intense discussions with grace, Dionis was a masterful debater and negotiator. Nothing could shake his composure—he never reacted impulsively, always choosing wisdom over haste. Music was a passion that shaped much of his life. Alongside his close-knit group of friends, he explored the world of hip-hop, channeling their energy into creating tracks that reflected their shared vision. Though many were drawn to Dionis for his charisma and genuine spirit, he maintained a small, trusted circle, valuing deep connections over fleeting ones. His presence had a way of diffusing tension; if a moment became strained, he would manage to in and restore harmony by allowing others to realize the motivation over trivial things, ensuring peace for everyone around him.
Of Dominican and Nicaraguan descent, Dionis embraced the rich cultures that lived within him, carrying his heritage with pride. He is survived by his loving mother, Alba Mara Torres (Marcos Silva), and his father, Claudio Betances. He leaves behind his cherished siblings, Carolina Steeves (Nelson Rodriguez) and Lucas Cabalganti; his adored niece and nephew, Caleb Saldana and Caleigh Rodriguez; and his cousins, Carolina (Joseph) Caldron and Emily (Joel) Calderon. Dionis also leaves his beloved grandmother, Maria Leticia Fernandez, along with a host of other relatives and countless friends who will deeply miss him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dionis' life at Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT on Friday, February 7, 2025, beginning at 10:00 A.M. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, followed by interment at Mt. Grove Easton Cemetery, 100 Harvester Road, Easton, CT.
