Desilia Valcy

February 22, 1942 — February 2, 2025

Desilia Valcy, a beloved figure in her community, left this world on February 2, 2025, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was born on February 22, 1942, in Haiti, where her vibrant spirit and generous heart first took shape. Desilia was not just a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she was a force of nature, impacting everyone she encountered throughout her life.

Desilia’s career was marked by her dedication and warmth. As the owner of a restaurant in Haiti, she showcased her remarkable talent as an outstanding cook, crafting meals that brought people together and created lasting memories. Her big personality made the restaurant a gathering spot for those seeking not only good food but also the comfort of her generous hospitality. Later in her life, she took on janitorial services at the airport, a position where she showed the same commitment and sense of duty.

Desilia had a fun-loving spirit that endeared her to many. Her laughter was infectious, and her love for music filled her home, creating an atmosphere of joy. Desilia believed strongly in the importance of giving back; she was known to always feed those in need, sharing her culinary gifts without hesitation.

She leaves behind a loving family who carries her legacy forward. Her daughter, Denise Jean, her granddaughter, Maxine C. Jean, and her great-grandchild, Uriah Jean, will forever hold the treasured memories of their beloved Desilia close to their hearts.

Desilia is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved parents, Mamuse Jean and Isul Fevier, who shaped the generous spirit that so many have come to cherish.

A Mass to celebrate her beautiful life will be held on February 22, 2025, at St. Charles Barromeo Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut, starting at 9:15 AM. Following the mass, she will be laid to rest at Mt. Grove Easton Cemetery at 10:45 AM.

Desilia Valcy will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, reminding us all of the power of kindness, the joy of giving, and the beauty of shared moments.
