Cristino Lanzo Calderon, 97, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, entered into eternal rest on December 15, 2024. Born on May 5, 1927, in Luquillo, Puerto Rico, he was the beloved son of the late Tomás Calderon and the late Carlotta Lanzo. Cristino was a devoted husband to his cherished wife, Emma Calderon, who now mourns the loss of her beloved partner. Together, they built a life centered on love and family, which brought him immense joy.
He is survived by his children: Angel Calderon, Michael (Alinette) Calderon, and Joseph (Carolina) Calderon and Juan Sanchez. He was the proud grandfather of Joseph Calderon, Rebecca Calderon, Nathan Calderon, Emily Calderon, Joel Calderon, Abigail Sanchez, Emelio Monteiro and Arianna Monteiro, and great-grandfather to Luka Calderon. He also leaves behind his siblings: Isabel and Matilde, along with many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him. Cristino was preceded in death by his daughter the late Emma Sanchez.
Cristino was a man of many passions and a heart full of generosity. He loved playing dominos and sharing stories with everyone he met. Spending time at the park with friends, enjoying classic movies, and delving into history books were among his favorite pastimes. A man of intimate faith and personal relationship with God, he was fond of watching ministries such as Jimmy Swaggart’s and found solace in the Word of God. Cristino dedicated much of his life to hard work. He was employed at Harvey Hubbell and several other factories that shaped the industrial backbone of Bridgeport. Later, he pursued work in the construction industry, where his strength and perseverance shone through.
Friends and family are invited to honor Cristino’s life during calling hours on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, beginning at 10:00 AM at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, CT, with an approximate arrival time of 1:45 PM.
Cristino’s memory will live on through the love of his family, the friendships he cultivated, and the countless lives he touched.
