Carmen Maria Larregui

Carmen Maria Larregui, born on April 22, 1924, in Manati, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, in her Bridgeport residence, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the last survivor of her generation, leaving behind a rich legacy of love and dedication.

Carmen was primarily known for her caring nature and her exceptional ability to look after her family with great detail. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a devoted mother to her children, Jesus, Jose, and Angel, demonstrating a stern but loving approach especially with them. However, she had a different touch with her grandchildren, showering them with warmth and affection. Her heart was particularly full for her last great-grandchild, Isaiah, who she regarded as the apple of her eye.  She also leaves her cherished daughter-in-law Verna Batista.

An active individual throughout her life, Carmen took pride in her health, remaining in impressive physical and mental condition well into her centenarian years. It is a testament to her strength and spirit that she maintained her vitality until just two days prior to her passing. Carmen enjoyed traveling, and she made it a point to regularly call her son, Tony, showcasing her deep connections and love for her family.  She was a virtuous woman of deep faith and love for the Lord at Iglesia de Cristo.  She sang the Lord's praises in church and gave instruction and guidance to many of the children.

Carmen’s infectious laughter was cherished by those who knew her. She will be remembered for the joy she brought into every gathering and the warmth she exuded. Her fondness for life and its moments will remain in the hearts of her surviving family members, including her 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Angel Larregui Figueroa, and her beloved children, Jose, Digna, Carmen, and Carlos.and two grandchildren Luis and Joseph.

A visitation to honor Carmen's remarkable life will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport, Connecticut, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  Interment will follow immediately after at Park Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
