Carmen Gloria Hernandez, age 98, of Bridgeport has passed into the presence of the Lord on May 25, 2023 in Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT. Carmen was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico to the late Epifanio Hernandez and the late Nemensia DeJesus and relocated to the Bridgeport area where she resided most of her life. She is the wife of the late Gilberto Hernandez. Throughout the years she owned various businesses in Bridgeport such as Farias Package Store and El Encanto Bridal Shop, which she truly enjoyed due to her spectacular skills as a Seamstress. Many were able to appreciate and wear the works of art coming from her hands that she designed and sewed. These items and skills would then be materialize and would become memorable pieces of clothing which were cherished for years to come in many who she sewed for. Holidays were an important part of Carmen's life and dear to her heart as she looked forward to spending quality time and cooking for her family and friends creating those memorable moments today called cherished treasures. She also took great pride in selecting the music that her husband played as a DJ in the radio station WNAB.
Carmen is the mother of Jose M. “Cheito” Lebron (Joan), Wilfredo “Fredo”Lebron (Silvia), Luis A. "Tono" Lebron (Barbara), Luz M. “Lucy“ Flores (Pedro), Gilbert Hernandez (Rosemarie), & Carmen Hernandez-Rodriguez (Jose). She was predeceased by a son, Orlando “Chuleta” Lebron (Aida). Carmen was grandmother to 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, relatives and friends who will sorely miss her. She was most grateful for her son-in-law Jose Rodriguez who stood by her side in her final years as her caregiver. Special THANK YOU to Father Rolando Torres for all the spiritual guidance and comfort you brought us and the laughs and smiles you brought to Mama’s heart.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, June 1, 2023, beginning at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's R.C. Church at 1:00 P.M.
Entombment will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
PLEASE WEAR LIGHT COLORS, BRIGHT COLORS, PASTELS OR WHITE. Refrain FROM WEARING BLACK, if possible!!
