Carmen D. Cruz

Carmen D. Cruz, age 73, of Bridgeport has returned to the presence of the Lord on February 23, 2023.  Carmen was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico to the late Juan Fonseca and the late Amelia Huertas and relocated to the mainland many years ago. She has resided in the Bridgeport area throughout the years.  Carmen was known to many as "Chinita" and was known by her gentle and caring demeanor, and a woman who always gave the best of herself to everyone around her. She is the loving wife of Efrain Medina who has been by her side for the past 34 years.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Richard Cruz and his wife Veronica Feliciano-Cruz and her daughter Tracey Cruz and her husband Alexis Sanchez. Carmen is the grandmother of Lauren McBride, Zada Cruz, Jaden Sanchez, Zuleyka Sanchez and Vaughn Vasquez. She is the Great-Grandmother of Cameron Bradley & Brooke Brown. She is the sister of Iris Reyes of Florida & Lydia De Jesus of Meriden, CT.  She also leaves behind a host of nieces & nephews and family and friends that will miss her and never forget those treasures she placed in their hearts throughout the years.

A viewing will take place on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT from 3-6 P.M.

Final disposition will be at the convenience of the family.

-Please be advised in Lieu of Flowers, a link has been provided on her webpage where donations may be made in Carmen's Memory to the Alzheimer's Association. Carmen knew too many who were being challenged by this disease.  She had hopes that advances will be made towards a cure.
