Carmen Cedeno, beloved daughter of the late Luis & Angela Fernandez was welcomed home by her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 16th, 2020. To all those that loved her she was tenderly known as Lea.
She came to the mainland from Naranjito, Puerto Rico as a young adult residing in Milford.
She traveled briefly to Puerto Rico and then returned laying roots in Bridgeport, where she raised her family. Carmen resided at the Pequonnick Apartments where she was known as the neighborhood mom by the many friends of her children. She was known for packing up her charcoal grill, cooler, food and drink and walking the kids to Seaside Park. Kids would play under her watchful eye and she would feed all who were hungry. Carmen was the team mother of the Spanish baseball league her son Orlando played for. She was involved in her community volunteering for the then Bridgeport mayoral Candidate Thomas Bucci alongside her son David. Carmen enjoyed sharing time with her family creating memories for all those she loved and esteemed. She enjoyed cooking and passing down her Puerto Rican recipes as well as her Puerto Rican heritage of which she was very proud. Carmen enjoyed and took pleasure in allowing children to be children. Building forts and tents for her grandchildren to play. Carmen worked at Contract Platting, Carnival Toys and lastly Remington Shavers from where she retired and moved to Stratford. She was a member of Iglesia Getzemaní in Bridgeport where she grew in her faith and enjoyed fellowshipping with her brothers and sisters in Christ.
She touched many lives and was loved immensely by those who were blessed to call her Mom, Mami, Grandma, Titi and friend. Carmen was predeceased by her sons Edwin Cedeno Jr and David Cedeno. Brothers, Rafael and Gamaliel Fernandez. Sisters Elizabeth Mejias and Ana Rivera.
Carmen is survived by sons Orlando (Emily) Cedeno and Peter (Evelyn) Martinez.
Grandchildren Adriana Medina(Sammy), Carolina, Carina and Christopher Martinez, Brittany, Violetta, Nanichi and Guanin Cedeno. She is survived by her siblings Elizer Fernandez(FL), Samuel Fernandez(Norys, PR),
Rachel Febus(PR), Noemi Sanchez(Angel Luis, PR) and Ruth Mejias(Gilbert, FL) and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to join her family in the celebration of Carmen‘s life on Friday, October 23rd at
Christian Revival Church, 441 Bishop Ave Bridgeport, CT.
Viewing hours are 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a Christian service 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Interment following at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield.
