Carmen Maria Alvarado Collado, a vibrant soul and devoted matriarch, gracefully left this world on February 23, 2025, at her Bridgeport residence. Born on May 4, 1923, in the beautiful town of Lajas, Puerto Rico, she carried with her the warmth and spirit of her homeland throughout her remarkable life.
Carmen was a beacon of selflessness and dedication. Her children, Norma, Ismael Jr, Edison, Carmen, Luis, Victor, Edwin, and Nilsa, will fondly remember her as the exemplary mother who instilled values of compassion and resilience in each of them. Her legacy continues to flourish through her 52 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry pieces of her heart within them.
Renowned for being a great cook, Carmen filled her home with the comforting aromas of her culinary masterpieces. She celebrated her love for life with every meal shared around the family table, where stories and laughter flowed as freely as the food. Her deep appreciation for nature manifested in her joy of watching and feeding birds, reminding her family and friends of the simple pleasures that life offers.
An adventurous spirit, Carmen cherished her travels back to Lajas, where her roots were intertwined with her identity. Until just two days before her passing, she remained an active participant in life, demonstrating her independence and zest for living fully, even as a Centenarian.
Carmen is now reunited with her beloved husband, Ismael Alvarado, and her son, Ismael Alvarado Jr., whose spirits surely embrace her once more. While their absence creates a void, the memories of their time together will forever reside in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
