Billy Santiago

Billy Santiago, age 57, of Bridgeport has passed to the Peaceful rest of the Lord on January 5, 2022, in Bridgeport Hospital. Billy was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico but had moved to the Bridgeport area at an early age. He is the son of the late Monserrate Santiago (Ruthy) and Catalina Santiago of Bridgeport. Billy was retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections where he was employed over 22 years. A good man with a heart of gold, Billy enjoyed the simple things in life and loved his family beyond what words could ever explain. He was an awesome pool player, at times competing with others in some really intense competitions. His warm nature and caring personality allowed him to be appreciated by many and loved by all.

In addition to his mother, Billy is survived by his siblings Javier Santiago and Ivonne Santiago. His stepbrother Joseph Santiago, his stepsister Crystal Santiago, and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends he considered like family, who all will sorely miss him.

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 5-8 PM at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 25 Sherman Street, Bridgeport, CT followed by interment in the Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.

Please be advised due to the current rise in exposures in the current Pandemic, Masks are Required over the mouth and nose at all times while inside the facility regardless of Vaccination status.

Also, entrance will be exclusively through the back ramp of the funeral home as access to the facility will be controlled for the health and well-being of all in attendance. It is our goal that all who may consider attending, return to the safety of your home the same way you arrived to celebrate Billy's Life. We are truly grateful for everyone's cooperation as we all navigate this entire situation in our world.

I moved to California in 1980. My cousin Billy Santiago was the only cousin who consistently kept in touched and vice versa. So very blessed to have him as my cousin. He will always be in my heart!
He loved his family, friends and all who came to know him.
I loved how authentic he was!
My heart goes out to his family!
Forever will be in my heart and will never forget!
