Benito Rivera

Benito Rivera, age 76 of Bridgeport, returned to the Loving Arms of the Lord on Monday, August 16, 2021 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT. He is the loving husband of Lydia Rivera. Benito was born in Barranquitas, PR; the son of the late Telesforo and Antonia Rodriguez prior to relocating to the Bridgeport area. Benito proudly served his country with the United States Army. He worked in maintenance for many years and loved spending time in his garden; his green thumb allowed him to grow various plants in his illustrious garden - even pumpkins. Benito enjoyed listening to music, playing the lottery, horse racing, and scratch tickets. More than anything, he loved his family. He is the loving father of Juan Rosa, Jessica Rosado, and Benito Rivera, Jr.; the caring grandfather of Juan Rosa, Jr., Alex Rivera, Jr. and Samantha Rivera; the adoring great grandfather of Divinity Rosa and Juan Willie Rosa; and the brother of Carmen, Sonia, and Raul Rivera. He was predeceased by his son, Willie Rosa and his siblings, Manuel, Efrain, Ruben, Maria and Elizabeth Rivera. Friends and family are invited to attend Calling Hours on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz. His funeral service is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 695 Colorado Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. His interment will follow at Park Cemetery, 620 Lindley St. Bridgeport, CT 06606.
