Antonia Garcia
October 16, 1966 – March 28, 2025
Antonia Garcia, a vibrant and joyful soul, passed away on March 28, 2025, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, at the age of 58. Born in Tarrafal, São Nicolau, Cabo Verde, on October 16, 1966, Antonia lived a life full of love, laughter, and generosity.
In 1989, she moved to Madrid, Spain, and later relocated to the United States in 2006 after marrying her beloved husband, Luis Garcia. Antonia was a woman whose laughter could light up a room. She had a playful spirit, an open heart, and a home where the door was always open—welcoming friends, family, and anyone in need of a warm meal or warm embrace.
She was a spectacular cook, especially of traditional Cape Verdean dishes, always preparing food in abundance because to her, food was love. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, attending any celebration she could, and was rarely known to turn down a party invitation. Her dedication to resolving life’s challenges with care and determination was a reflection of her strong and giving nature.
Antonia is survived by her loving children: Cleidi Delgado Dos Reis, Marina Delgado dos Reis, Sidnei Delgado Dos Reis, and Alejandrina Delgado Garcia. She was a proud grandmother to William Andrade Delgado, Santiago Delgado Andrade Dos Reis, Isabela Andrade Delgado, and Jaina Antonia Dos Reis Soares.
She also leaves behind her siblings: Marlice Delgado, Nilza Delgado, Jose Antonio Delgado, Augusto Delgado, and Edmar Anaclete Delgado; and was the cherished daughter of the late Antonio Anaclete Delgado and Arlinda Ana Duarte Delgado.
Antonia's legacy of joy, hospitality, and deep love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
