Angel Montañez

September 21, 1930 – February 26, 2025

With deep love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Angel Montañez, who departed this life on February 26, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on September 21, 1930, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Angel lived a life defined by hard work, faith, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

Angel was the beloved son of the late Felix Montañez and Angela Alvarez. He was one of 14 siblings, among them Jose Pizarro and Juan Montañez Alvarez, who preceded him in passing.

For over 60 years, Angel was devoted to his late wife, Iris V. Montañez , with whom he built a loving and supportive home. Angel leaves behind five children: Angel Alberto Montañez (Esther Ocasio), Angel Luis Montañez, Luis Alberto Montañez, Mireya Porto, and Eric Montañez (Kim Walsh). He was a proud grandfather to Angel A. Montañez, Cristina Montañez, Valerie Montañez, Krystal Alfonso (Julio Alfonso), Angelika Porto, and LA Montañez, and a doting great-grandfather to Nathanael Montañez, Ediel Claudio, Natalia Claudio, Alan Arroyo, Alianys Arroyo, Ezra Alfonso, and Grayson Alfonso.

Angel worked for over 30 years at Cornwall & Patterson as a foreman in Bridgeport, CT. He was a man of many talents and passions. Angel also worked as a bartender and Latin promoter in his younger years to help support his family. He became a well-known and respected figure in the community. His career allowed him to bring joy to many while staying connected to his Puerto Rican roots and culture.

Beyond his work, Angel’s accomplishments spoke volumes about his compassionate spirit. He dedicated himself to helping the homeless, received an award from the Osceola Council on Aging for facilitating community service programs for inmates, and was a sponsor for Cuban immigrants. His faith was a cornerstone of his life—he was a faithful, dedicated, and committed member of Iglesia Bautista Emanuel in Bridgeport, CT.

Those who knew Angel would describe him as loving, caring, generous, and humble. A man of few words but great wisdom, when he spoke, his words carried weight. He always found the good in people and welcomed everyone with open arms. He was a hard worker, fully committed to providing for his family, and lived a life filled with passion and service to others. His presence was unmistakable—always well-groomed with the warm, familiar scent of Original Old Spice.

Angel had a deep love for nature and water, a passion for gardening, and a well-earned reputation for making the best pernil. He cherished the outdoors and took great joy in experiencing God’s creation. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing dominoes, where he was known as one of the best. He was also a head deacon at his church, a role in which he served with great devotion and humility.

Angel Montañez was a kind and thoughtful soul whose legacy of love, generosity, and faith will live on through the many lives he touched. His family and friends will forever treasure his wisdom, warmth, and unwavering kindness.

A memorial service to honor Angel’s life will be held at a later date.  Final Disposition will be held privately

May he rest in eternal peace!
