Today we are celebrating the life of Angel David Ortiz, age 73, a beloved son, brother, uncle, father and grandfather who entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 19, 2023, in St. Joseph’s Manor in Trumbull, CT after a lengthy illness.
Angel David was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on December 5, 1949, to Angel Rios Ortiz of Lehigh, Florida and the late Carmen Esther Ortiz. In addition to his father, he is survived by his son David Jr., son Angel (Omar), his daughter Casandra (Sandy), and his grandchildren Arianna ; Caasi (Sandy), Isaiah (Angel Omar), and David, Ashley Anthony & Aleisha (David, Jr.). His siblings, Edwin (RIP), Barranquitas, P.R., Israel (Deb) Hamden, CT., Elizabeth (Isaias) Lehigh, FL., Cenaida, Luis (RIP), Carlos (Carmen) of Bridgeport, CT., Kenneth (Norma) Colombia, Sonia (Samuel) Gurabo, P.R., Edward (Ivet) Bridgeport, CT and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Angel David attended the following schools: Longfellow Elementary, Franklin Middle school and Central High in Bridgeport. He was employed by various companies throughout the State of, as a welder, and a tool and die maker, but his passions were always visual arts and remodeling homes. He created vivid works of art, drawing on whatever materials he can get his hands on paper, wood and even on handkerchiefs. What beautiful drawings his gifted hands would make. Angel David is so proud of his granddaughter, Arianna that presently is an Art Teacher at Common Ground Charter High School, in New Haven, CT. He found great comfort in outings with his granddaughters, visiting restaurants or cooking at home and sharing heartfelt conversations over meals. Angel David loved watching movies with his daughter and grandchildren, which he comically referred to as ‘Pictures’. He was extremely knowledgeable when it came to fixing damages around the house. If something was broken, he always eagerly offered his services to repair and replace.
Angel David loved his family dearly and enjoyed family gatherings and reunions. This year he accepted the Lord as his personal savior, with thanks to his youngest sibling Edward, who lovingly ministered the word to him every moment he got an opportunity to. Angel David enjoyed phone conversations with his loved ones, always ending his conversations with “Thank you for calling and checking up on me,” “Please say hello to the family on my behalf,” “I love you a lot,” and “Have a Blessed day.” We are a family of Believers in Christ and truly believe that our Lord and Savior was preparing his heart to take him home, as his tone this past year was of great gratitude and love to whomever offered him help and blessings.
Angel David always wished us a blessed day or night whenever we spoke, and the family wishes him a BLESSED ETERNITY WITH HIS LORD AND SAVIOR. Angel David is loved immensely and will be deeply missed!
