Anderson (Andy Ayala) Ayala, age 48, the beloved son of Manuel Ayala and Maria V. Ayala of Bridgeport has passed away into the peaceful rest of the Lord on March 3, 2019 in St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT while he was surrounded by his family. “Andy” as so many graciously knew him by was a fun, loving person, who was friendly with everyone he came across. He remembered everyone’s name and made sure to meet your acquaintance beforeleaving a room. He enjoyed being a Mason and what it stood for as he shared time with other masons in finding ways in which to serve God, family, country, neighbors and self which is a great part of their mission statement. He was a 1990 graduate of Kolbe Cathedral High School and went on to attend Mitchell College. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church since he was a child and had served as an altar server. He also served the city of Bridgeport, CT in many capacities, most recently as City Sheriff since 2017; He was also part of the 137th district time committee since 2016; in 1999 he was elected as councilman for the City of Bridgeport 131 st district and remained as such until 2005. Again in 2009 he was re- elected as a councilman and served until 2011. Andy was honored to serve concurrently on the city council with his dad, Manuel who represented the 137 th district those same years. Professionally, Andy was in the auto industry and known throughout many circles as a top salesman over a 15 year career. Socially, Andy was a passionate competitor on the softball diamond and is best known for his contributions to the Tiburones and Mavericks softball clubs.
In addition to his parents, Andy is survived by his brother Kelvin Ayala; his sisters Sonia Hernandez and her spouse Rafael, and Carmen I. Ayala and her spouse Nelson Oyola; his nieces, Arelis, Mali, and Janai, and his nephews; Leonel and Giovanny. He leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends whom will miss him dearly.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 6-9 P.M. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, (Peaceful Light Funeral Home), 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT;
Funeral Services have been planned for Friday, March 8, 2019 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church at 11:00 A.M.
Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT;
PLEASE BE ADVISED: Due to the large amount of persons expected one the Night of the visitation/Viewing, EVERYONE may access the entrance into the funeral home ONLY THROUGH FRONT DOORS. The back entrance is only for Handicapped Access AND prior to arrival, please contact our office so we can be sure to grant access for such physically challenged individuals. IF someone exits funeral home, they must re-enter through front doors as our goal is to effectively allow everyone whom attends the service to come, pay respects, allowing the family and all in attendance to come through in a comfortable fashion. With the cooperation of all in attendance, this will be possible to accomplish.
