Alberto Hernandez, beloved husband, devoted father, dedicated grandfather, esteemed Fire Marshall, and cherished friend, passed away on April 22, 2024, at the age of 63. Born on March 25, 1961, in Lares, Puerto Rico, Alberto's life was a testament to selflessness, generosity, and dedication to others.
Alberto served as a firefighter for the City of Bridgeport, rising to the rank of Fire Marshall during his tenure. His commitment to public service was unparalleled, and his unwavering dedication to protecting his community earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
In addition to his illustrious career, Alberto was a loving husband to Judy Hernandez for over 36 years, a devoted father to Cristal Berrios and Jose Arroyo, and a cherished grandfather to Carter, Nolan, Cassidy, Eneida, and an additional grandson on the way. He found immense joy in his role as a family man, always putting the needs of his loved ones above his own.
Alberto's siblings, Alicia Chiluisa(Polo Chiluisa), Carlos Gonzalez(Gloria Taveras), Eva Irizarry, Milagros Hernandez, Hilda Hernandez, Angel Hernandez, and Patria Hernandez, along with many nieces and nephews, special love for his God daughters Tanisha Valentine and Jenaliz Deleon and countless friends and colleagues, mourn his loss deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, Candida Montalvo and Candido Hernandez, but leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will endure for generations to come.
Known for his selflessness and humility, Alberto never sought recognition for his countless acts of kindness. He was a perfectionist in all that he did, yet he remained humble and grounded, always prioritizing the needs of others above his own.
Alberto found solace and joy in simple pleasures, often taking long walks in Seaside Park, where he could admire the beauty of nature and reflect on life's blessings. His infectious energy, playful spirit, and quick wit endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him, earning him the title of friend and confidant to many.
In honor of Alberto's lifelong commitment to serving others. Alberto's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire acts of kindness for years to come.
