Alberto Cartagena

Alberto Cartagena, a beloved landscaper, passed away on October 3, 2023, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was born on November 24, 1933, in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico. Alberto's death leaves behind an immense void in the hearts of his family and friends.

Alberto dedicated his life to his career as a landscaper, pouring his heart into creating beautiful outdoor spaces for numerous clients. His skilled hands brought life and vibrancy to every project he undertook. He possessed a deep appreciation for nature and understood its beauty like no other.

Beyond his passion for landscaping, Alberto had a zest for life that shone through every aspect of his being. Known for his ability to diffuse anger and find solutions in difficult situations, he radiated happiness wherever he went. He embraced joy with open arms and never allowed anger to consume him. Alberto's positive attitude was truly infectious and touched the lives of all who crossed paths with him.

In his free time, Alberto found solace in Musica Jibara, strumming the guitar or playing the maracas with soulful melodies that resonated through every note. His love for music was a reflection of his vibrant spirit and brought joy to those fortunate enough to witness his talent.

Alberto also had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed exploring new places. Whether it was discovering hidden gems in Puerto Rico or embarking on culinary adventures around the world, he approached each journey with curiosity and an open heart. Furthermore, Alberto possessed great expertise in the kitchen himself; he was a masterful cook who delighted in showcasing his culinary creations to loved ones.

Alberto will be deeply missed by his surviving family members: Yvonne Cartagena (daughter),  Pastor Iris Cartagena (daughter), Diane Cartagena (daughter), Luis Vergara (son-in-law), four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  Alberto is predeceased by his loving mother Petronila Lugo and his father Rafael Cartagena. He had a special bond with each of them, and his legacy will continue to live on through the love and memories shared within this close-knit family.

The life of Alberto Cartagena will be honored at two services. The visitation will take place on October 6, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608. This will be an opportunity for friends and loved ones to pay their respects and share fond memories of his life. Following the visitation, a burial service will be held at Mt. Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport, CT at 12:15 PM.

Alberto Cartagena's departure has left a void that can never be filled; however, let us find solace in the memories we shared with him and the impact he had on our lives. May his soul find eternal peace as we carry his spirit in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, dear Alberto; your light will continue to guide us through life's journey.
