Aida Isabel Avila, age 90 of Bridgeport, returned to the Loving Arms of the Lord on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was born in Cuba ; she is the beloved wife of Edilberto Avila of Bridgeport; daughter of Alberto Hernandez and Hermencia Hidalgo prior to relocating to the Bridgeport area many years ago. She was the last surviving child of 12 siblings. She came from Cuba over 40 years ago and retired from the Bpt Board of Education. A former teacher in Cuba, she loved poetry, reading, singing and playing the piano Aida will be remembered as the life of the party with her many jokes and funny disguises. Aida was a member of the Cuban Lyceum of Bridgeport for many years. Aida is survived by her nieces and nephews: Raul (Suzie) Lafitte, Gisela (Jose) Rodriguez, Consuelo (Juan) Freso, Milagros (Domingo) DeGuzman, Alberto (Zaida) Lafitte, Caroline (Alberto) Alvarez, Leopoldo (Lourdes) Lafitte, Juan Antonio Hernandez and Jose Antonio Hernandez Carlos and Roberto Laffitte, Alfredo Del Prado and Alberto Hernandez; and her step-daughter Idamar Avila. Along with many more in Cuba and in Spain. Her disposition will be held privately and at the convenience of family.
