Agueda Serrano, born on February 5, 1942, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, peacefully passed away on May 20, 2024, in the comfort of her home in Bristol, CT surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted homemaker whose life revolved around caring for her family with unwavering dedication, a woman whose resilience and faith left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Agueda's life was a testament of enduring strength and unyielding faith. Despite facing numerous hardships, she maintained a deep bond with God and exemplified perseverance in every aspect of her life. Her journey was one marked by challenges that only strengthened her devotion and compassion.
Growing up in a modest household, Agueda knew the struggles of poverty and the heartache of loss early on. The passing of her parents, Ezequiel Sanchez and Jacinta Ortiz, and the loss of her children, Julio, Hector, and Lydia Serrano, brought profound sorrow. Yet, Agueda's faith never wavered. She found solace and strength in her devout Catholic beliefs, which became a cornerstone of her life.
Marrying Roberto Serrano, Agueda embraced her role as a homemaker with grace and resilience. Together, they built a loving home for their twelve children: Maria Rosa Alvarado, Miriam Serrano, Roberto Serrano Jr., Norma Serrano, Lillian Serrano, William Serrano, Luis Serrano, Alfredo Serrano, and Maritza Serrano, and many precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. Agueda faced the trials of raising a large family with unwavering commitment, always ensuring her children felt loved and supported despite the difficulties they faced.
Her days were filled with acts of kindness and devotion. Agueda found joy in simple pleasures like cooking delicious meals, sewing beautiful creations, and feeding those she cherished. Her talents extended far beyond the kitchen and sewing room; they reached deep into the hearts of her loved ones, providing comfort and love in times of need.
Agueda's life was a symphony of quiet strength and enduring love. She was described as humble, understanding, and a confidant to many. Her warm heart and gentle soul brightened the days of those around her, and her deep faith served as an inspiration to all.
Agueda is survived by her children, her siblings Maria Garcia, Andres Sanchez, Ajenol Ortiz, Pedro Ortiz, Benigna Pomales, Ines Ortiz, Rinaldo Ortiz, Eddie Ortiz, Nancy Ortiz and Antonio Ortiz, and countless friends who were touched by her kindness and compassion. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Roberto Serrano, her dear children and brother Juan Sanchez.
Services to honor Agueda's life will take place at Funeraria Luz De Paz in Bridgeport, CT. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, May 29 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A burial ceremony will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford on Wednesday, May 29 at 12:30 PM.
