Ada Esther Obando

Ada Esther Obando has passed away at the age of 66. A beloved educator for 33 years, who dedicated a large portion of her career to the Bridgeport Public School System. Her loss leaves a void in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.

Ada was born on February 6, 1957, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to Afortunado Hernandez and Victoria Candelaria. Growing up with her siblings Elsie Quintanilla, Afortunado Hernandez Jr., Elizabeth Hernandez, Nancy Hernandez, Maribel Hernandez, Eglaer Hernandez, Hector Hernandez, and Edwin Hernandez. Ada learned the importance of family values and love that she carried throughout her life.

With a passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact on young minds, Ada pursued her academic journey and earned a master's degrees. Her dedication and commitment to teaching touched the lives of countless students who were fortunate enough to have her as their educator in the Bridgeport Public School System.

Ada's engaging personality shone through in many aspects of her life. She found solace and strength through her faith in the church. Her love for food took her on culinary adventures that satisfied her adventurous spirit. Traveling was another passion that allowed Ada to explore new places and cultures.

Ada enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, sharing meals together.  She was a faithful servant of the Lord who dedicated and praised him weekly at El Centro de Educacion Cristiana para la Familia in Bridgeport.  It was her faith in the Lord and the support of the community helped her through the difficult times during her illness. Ada also had an eye for fashion and enjoyed clothes shopping, finding joy in selecting unique pieces that expressed her individuality.

Ada's warm presence will be deeply missed by her surviving family members: Yessenia and Hector Roque; Nathaniel Nieves and Kimberly Zapata, 8 grandchildren, along with countless friends.  She is predeceased by her son Juan Cubero and her brother Joaquin Hernandez.

Ada's family invites friends and loved ones to pay their final respects during the visitation event, which will be held on September 25, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Luz De Paz located at 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608.

Ada Esther Obando's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those touched by her kindness, warmth, and dedication to education. May she rest in peace knowing that she has made a lasting impact on the lives of so many.
